BEDFORD RIDE

Bedford Ride is dedicated to improving the quality of life for Bedford citizens by providing better access to non-emergency medical services.

Residents of communities served may be eligible for Bedford Ride non-emergency medical transportation services if they have no other practical means of transportation available and if they are disabled, elderly, or low-income.

Once eligibility has been established and a medical appointment has been made, passengers contact the office staff to arrange for transportation.  Transportation request must be made a minimum of two days in advance.  Medical appointments should be scheduled between 8:30 am and 3:00 pm. 

Our direct expenses are very low thanks to our many volunteer drivers.  Passengers receiving transportation are asked to pay a small fee to help cover a portion of our operating costs.

Bedford Ride is administered by the Central Virginia Area Agency on Aging, but obtains significant volunteer support from independent volunteer leadership boards in various parts of the county.
